The 2008 Saratoga Mardi Gras will again be honored to have WLOX TV (ABC - News) reporter Al Showers as our King. Al is from Hancock County, Mississippi and a hurricane victim himself. He lost his entire home as a result of Hurricane Katrina. With the help of Saratoga Springs volunteers Al has recently moved from the FEMA camper where he had been living since the storm, to a new home.

He has been covering the news for Hancock County since before the storm and stayed at the EOC (Emergency Operation Center) during Katrina's fury and helped save many lives.
